Keep Your Shower Sparkling Clean

Keeping your shower clean is about two things – prevention and regular cleaning.  To prevent the formation of soap scum on shower surfaces, try switching to a shower gel – they leave no soap scum!

Prevent Mold and Mildew in your Shower

To prevent mold and mildew squeegee or towel dry shower after each use.  If that’s too much trouble (it is for me), simply turn on the exhaust fan for about 30 minutes and leave the shower door open until the shower dries.  Anything you can do to reduce the moisture and humidity in the bathroom will go a long way toward reducing mold and mildew.

Best Tool for Cleaning the Shower

If you’ve been doing your part to prevent soap scum, mold and mildew, cleaning the shower (we recommended weekly) should be a pretty each task.  The best tool for cleaning the shower is a magic eraser.  These can be purchased at any grocery and they work wonders!  A magic eraser should require no chemicals to clean your ceramic tile and shower glass doors.  If however, surfaces require a little more “umph” – spray surfaces with a mixture of one part vinegar to two parts water or a shower, tub and tile cleaner, then scrub with your magic eraser.  If the grout needs a little scrub – a grout brush works great to get between tiles.  You can purchase a grout brush at most grocery stores, Home Depot or Lowe’s.

Lastly, when hard water or calcium builds up on your showerhead, simply tie a baggie filled with white distilled vinegar around the shower head.  Allow to sit overnight, then remove the baggies and run the shower to flush the build-up.

Voila!
