Green Cleaning

Why Go Green?

Green cleaning employs cleaning methods with environmental-friendly ingredients, to preserve human health and the quality of our environment. The products and techniques employed in green cleaning eliminate the use of toxic chemicals. Some of these chemical reactions emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) causing respiratory and dermatological problems, along with other adverse effects.

Green cleaning can also describe the way cleaning products are manufactured, packaged, and distributed. If the manufacturing process is environmental-friendly and the products are biodegradable, they are considered to be "eco-friendly" or "green".

Another thing that makes us truly unique, is that we handcraft EVERY single product that we bring into your home. They are lab-tested & field-tested for quality assurance. For more info on our products, please click here.

The Health Benefits of Green Cleaning

By using more ecologically-friendly products, including green cleaning formulations and products, consumers may be able to reduce human health risks by reducing exposure to harmful chemicals.

Harmful chemicals are prevalent not only in general consumer cleaning products but also in foods, cosmetics, home construction, and clothing. In the average American home, around 63 synthetic chemical products can be found. This equates to approximately 10 gallons of hazardous chemicals.

Here I have listed potential adverse health effects from exposure to common household products. This is another good reason to go green!

  • Glass cleaners may contain Isopropyl Alcohol which can irritate the skin, eyes, nose, and throat, and ammonia which can irritate the skin and eyes and cause coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath.

  • All-purpose cleaners may contain 2-Butoxyethanol which can cause headaches, dizziness, lightheadedness, and confusion, in addition to irritating the eyes, nose, throat, and mouth.

  • Bathroom cleaners may contain Sodium Hypochlorite/Chlorine which can severely irritate the skin; may cause eye damage, coughing, or shortness of breath.

  • Studies by the US Green Building Council have shown that half of the benefit of using green cleaning products is in the manufacturing and mixology process. During mixology most of the chemical toxicity becomes aerosolized. By mixing under negative pressure or outside (away from kids), the harmful chemicals may be neutralized.
